Beautiful morning to spend with Friends of Mangemangeroa Reserve, exploring the incredible mahi (work) they've done over the past 25+ years to restore native plants to the area.
Howick Local Board members John Spiller, Kai Zeng and I took them up on the invitation to visit and meet some of their volunteers. As always, I learned a lot more about the native plants and the work underway to protect and restore them.
Having been to many community planting days here, it's wonderful to see the progress. But the real work is the weeding, maintenance and pest control done by a combination of volunteers, council contractors, and iwi representatives.
Thank you to everyone involved in making this a truly special place.
