Weekly Wrap Up: 11 May 2026
Each week I’m providing a quick summary of the meetings and events I’ve attended as a member of the Howick Local Board (HLB). This is my report for last week, starting Monday 11 May.
On Thursday we had our HLB workshop (https://aucklandcouncil.resolve.red/portal/meeting/12277) but unfortunately, due to being away with work commitments, I was unable to attend most of the workshop. I joined remotely for the session with Auckland Transport regarding The Parade but can’t provide details (as it was a closed session).
On Friday we had our first quarterly meeting with our Ward Councillors where we received a comprehensive update on what they’ve been working on. We discussed our feedback into the annual budget and the issues around the intersection of Ra Hihi and Pakūranga Road.
On Saturday, I attended the Dragon Boat Festival hosted by Botany Chinese Association, along with Acting-Chair Kai Zeng and colleagues from neighbouring Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board. See more here.
On Saturday evening I attended an event to acknowledge 147 years of Fiji Girmit, organised by the Fiji Girmit Foundation of NZ, and well attended by community and leaders. See more here.
