Weekly Wrap Up: 20 July 2026

Each week I’m providing a quick summary of the meetings and events I’ve attended as a member of the Howick Local Board (HLB).

This is my report for last week, starting Monday 20 July.

On Thursday we had our monthly business meeting (https://aucklandcouncil.resolve.red/portal/meeting/12501), where we made some important decisions for our community:
🗣️Received deputations from Cockle Bay Beach Reserve Restoration Project, Le Malaga
✅Approved new lease for Citizens Advice Bureau Pakūranga
📑Provided feedback on local elections 2028 (order of names, FPP vs STV, postal vs booth), navigation bylaw, and health and hygiene bylaw

On Friday morning, we were invited to the sod turning for the final stage of the Eastern Busway project. Great to see this finally underway as it completes the busway, walking and cycling paths through to the Botany Town Centre. See more here.

On Friday afternoon, I joined other Howick Local Board members as we visited Pakūranga College as the final feedback session for our draft Howick Local Board Plan 2026. It was great to have the opportunity to listen to the ideas of local rangatahi (youth) as we shape our strategy for the next three years.

On Sunday, I attended a special service at All Saints Howick to celebrate 35 years of their food bank providing for our community. I’m grateful for the amazing mahi (work) of community organisations like this, who look after our most vulnerable. See more here.
