Weekly Wrap Up: 24 August 2026

Each week I’m providing a quick summary of the meetings and events I’ve attended as a member of the Howick Local Board (HLB).

This is my report for last week, starting Monday 24 August.

On Monday I attended the quarterly Lloyd Elsmore Park User Group Meeting. It was good to be able to report that the dog park development had been completed, with the skatepark upgrade well underway. Parking remains a challenge, which may become easier to address with all transport moving to Auckland Council in October.

On Thursday we had our business meeting (https://aucklandcouncil.resolve.red/portal/meeting/12502) where we make the decisions that effect our community. Key items and outcomes:
🗣️Deputations from Friends of Mangemangeroa Reserve, Half Moon Bay Residents and Ratepayers, Utilities Disputes, and public forum from local resident.
🚘Transport governance decisions – we agreed moderate delegations to staff, with Chair Bruce Kendall as interim transport lead (supported by outgoing Deputy Kai Zeng and incoming Deputy Krish Naidu) to be reviewed in 6 months. Full decision-making remains with the full Board.
🚧Transport projects – supported construction of signalised intersection at Pakūranga / Hutchinson / Aberfeldy; supported construction of new footpaths on Gills and Cascade Road.
📑Signed off our annual report – confidential due to NZX disclosure rules but will be published soon.

Meetings/activities planned for this week:
📅Thu 3 Sep: HLB workshop (https://aucklandcouncil.resolve.red/portal/meeting/12293)
📅Sat 5 Sep: Opening Night of Spring Art Show, Howick Art Group
