Weekly Wrap Up: 19 October 2026

Each week I’m providing a quick summary of the meetings and events I’ve attended as a member of the Howick Local Board (HLB). This is my report for last week, starting Monday 19 October (a little later this week due to the long weekend and other work commitments).

On Wednesday I attended the Business East Tāmaki Committee Meeting. They’re busy preparing for their upcoming AGM. I updated them on the transport reform that has taken effect since the last meeting and the progress on the Eastern Busway.

On Thursday we had our HLB meeting (https://aucklandcouncil.resolve.red/portal/meeting/12504) where we make the decisions that affect our community. Key outcomes:

🗣️Deputations and public forum: Oceania Literacy Trust; Auckland Brit and Euro Car Show; SEVA Charitable Trust

✅ Approved: Howick Local Board Plan 2026 (our 3yr strategy); new pathway for Mooneys Bridge South Reserve (Highland Park); Ostrich Farm Sports Field Stage 1; community grants (29 requests worth approximately $30k).

📑Provided feedback on rates capping.

On Saturday I attended the South East Auckland Senior Citizens Association Diwali event, along with Chair Bruce Kendall, Deputy Krish Naidu, and Member Adele White. It was wonderful to celebrate this important cultural festival. See more.
