Weekly Wrap Up: 26 October 2026

Each week I’m providing a quick summary of the meetings and events I’ve attended as a member of the Howick Local Board (HLB). This is my report for last week, starting Monday 26 October.

On Tuesday I attended the Counselling Service Centre 40th Anniversary Dinner. For four decades they have provided a sexual harm crisis response service and counselling to those who have experienced sexual and family violence, relationship difficulties, grief, addiction. depression and anxiety. Incredible people doing vital work in the face of some terrible situations – wonderful to be able to celebrate their dedication and ongoing commitment to those in need.

On Wednesday I attended the AGM for Business East Tāmaki, as the Howick Local Board representative to the business association. The small but mighty team lead by General Manager Ruth White have achieved a lot in the past year. Congratulations to the team on another successful year. See more here.

On Thursday, we didn’t have a HLB workshop or meeting.

On Saturday I attended Halloween at Howick Historical Village. For the third year in a row, I had the pleasure of being one of the judges for the costume competition – some incredibly creative and scary ideas on display! See more here.
