On Wednesday I attended the AGM for Business East Tamaki, as the Howick Local Board representative to the business association. Home to over 3,000 businesses and more than 40k employees, East Tāmaki contributes nearly 5% of Auckland’s total GDP.
The small but mighty team lead by General Manager Ruth White have achieved a lot in the past year – they connected businesses with decisionmakers at booked out networking events, while environmental action diverted over 5tonnes of e-waste and over 3k pallets from landfill. The RSM East Auckland Business Awards were another huge success, showcasing real leaders in innovation and celebrating our amazing local businesses. Their unrelenting focus on crime and safety has helped ensure trends in the area continue to improve, while advocacy on transport has helped provide better public transport access through the new 37 and incoming Eastern Busway.
It’s been a pleasure sitting as a non-voting member of the Committee for the past year. Led by new Chairperson Lucy Hall, the committee has worked tirelessly to deliver more value for members, leveraging technology and responding to member feedback. Some more exciting things happening here soon!
Congratulations to the team on another successful year.
