Colours of Joy light up Barry Curtis Park
On Saturday, Barry Curtis Park was filled with the Colours of Joy! This wonderful Community-led event was organised by Rainbow Celebrating Life Trust.
Despite rain earlier in the day, locals turned up to enjoy performances, food, and colour! A celebration of Holi, the traditional Hindi Festival of Colours, Love and Spring, there was plenty of coloured powder to represent the diversity of our communities.
I joined fellow local board members Jack Collins and Krish Naidu, as well as Deputy Chair Kai Zeng and Chair Bruce Kendall. You'll see the before and after photos and you can see we left looking a lot more colourful!
It was great to have Otara Waterways and Lake Trust present to speak to locals about the impact of illegal dumping of rubbish and how they can help protect and restore the environment.
This event was supported by the Howick Local Board through our Community Grants Programme, as well as funding from the Ministry of Ethnic Communities.
