April road closures for Pakūranga

From the Eastern Busway project:

"April will be a busy month for improvements in your neighbourhood. With traffic volumes lower over the April school holiday break, we’re taking the opportunity to undertake important construction work. The Eastern Busway is set to open in 2027, extending the current Panmure–Pakūranga busway all the way to Botany Town Centre. We will be working 24/7 for periods of time and there will be noise at night during this time.

William Roberts Road

William Roberts Road between Cortina Place and Tī Rākau Drive will be closed for the entire month of April. There will be 24/7 work for two weeks.

We will be carrying out final road surfacing work near to the Tī Rākau Drive intersection to improve the road levels and provide a smoother, higher-quality journey for motorists. A detour route will

be in place. Please follow the signs and take extra care while travelling through the area.

Marriott Road

A section of Marriott Road will remain closed during April as we install underground stormwater pipes, and Watercare upgrades the watermain, before we construct the road surface. If there are opportunities to temporarily reopen the road for short periods during April, we will.

Edgewater Drive (near the shops)

Early to mid-April, the end of Edgewater Drive will be closed for three weeks during the school holidays. We will be constructing a new speed table and completing kerb improvements.

A new raised table will create a continuous, level surface for cyclists and pedestrians, improving crossing accessibility for people using prams, wheelchairs and other mobility aids across Edgewater Drive. It will also encourage lower speeds to make it safer for customers accessing the nearby shopping centre.

Gossamer Drive

Early April, there will be two weeks of temporary lane changes with 24/7 work. Work will continue for the rest of the month and includes some night shifts. Only one right turn lane will be available while we complete essential work to upgrade the road corridor and improve turning movements.

Temporary lane layout changes will be in place from Easter Weekend. These include:

• One signalised right turn only from Tī Rākau Drive to Gossamer Drive

• One signalised exit lane at Gossamer Drive. The left turning slip lane will be closed.

New kerb lines and pavement are being installed, and the upgraded intersection will take shape over the coming months.

Palm Avenue / Tī Rākau Drive Intersection

Late April, we will be undertaking intersection improvements.

Recently we started upgrading the lanes towards Panmure along Tī Rākau Drive, between Pakūranga Highway and Pakūranga Road. In late April we will do the same across Palm Avenue. We will upgrade the Palm Avenue entry, near Tī Rākau Drive, in two stages, maintaining one lane entry for the local community.”
