Lloyd Elsmore Skatepark is open!

On Saturday the Howick Local Board joined the community to celebrate the official opening of the newly upgraded skatepark. It was awesome to see the community turning out to enjoy this fantastic new facility, designed for the community, by the community. Young and old, skateboards, bikes, scooters, and skates - all enjoying the space together.

Special thanks to Aaron Martin and East Skate Club for their tireless advocacy for this project. It wouldn't have happened without you, your efforts have been incredible.

Thank you to everyone who was involved - council staff, contractors, and the community who provided input through the public consultation.

With limited funding available, we priortised delivering the best skatepark we could while future proofing it. We're already looking at seating, lighting, shade, water, and improved footpaths. And there's space for an additional bowl as part of the masterplan.
This project represents a massive investment into wheeled play, but it's just the beginning - work underway at Logan Carr in Botany will provide even more opportunities.
