In the newspaper: One in seven local footpaths are broken or missing

"We now know the Howick Local Board area has roughly 548km of footpaths but there’s 54km with no footpath at all. That’s nearly 10 times the full length of Pakuranga Road in missing footpaths!"

"Even where footpaths exist, they need attention. Around 25km are in poor or very poor condition, with large cracks and other defects affecting safety."

Thanks to the Eastern Times for printing my latest column in which I discuss the gaps in our most basic infrastructure - footpaths.

As transport returns to Auckland Council on October 1, I’m concerned that we’ll be burdened with more failing and missing assets without funding or a plan to address the issues.
