Walkway renewal coming for Frank Nobilo – Pakuranga Country Club Esplanade

The Frank Nobilo Walkway (sometimes referred to as Pakuranga Country Club Esplanade), connects Golflands to Cascades Road behind the Pakūranga Golf Club. It's an important local pedestrian connection and recreational asset used by the community for everyday walking, exercise, and access through the surrounding areas. Over time, sections of the existing pathway have deteriorated and require renewal to maintain a safe, functional, and durable surface.
The Howick Local Board has priortised funding to address the issues and bring this walkway back to the standard we need. The works include:
Removal of identified deteriorated and damaged sections of the existing pathway.
Construction of a new and durable pathway surface.
Localised improvements to uneven or degraded areas where required.
Renewal and repairs of boardwalk as required
Associated drainage, edging and ground-reinstatement works where required.
Final site clean-up and finishing to ensure the walkway is returned to the community in a safe and presentable condition.
Physical works are scheduled to commence on 5 October 2026 and will run through the end of December (depending on weather).
As with any construction activity within a public space, there may be temporary impacts on pedestrian movements while works are underway. Where necessary, sections of the walkway may be temporarily restricted or closed to allow construction activities to be undertaken safely. Appropriate site safety, pedestrian management, and temporary access measures will be implemented throughout the works. Our project team will work closely with the contractor to minimise disruption to the community and maintain access around the work areas wherever practicable.
