Here are my priorities for a better Auckland. I developed these based on discussions with our community together with my own ideas for our city. It’s impossible to capture every idea, but these are my main areas of focus that I believe will make the greatest impact.
Deliver on transport
I want to live in an Auckland where we have a wide range of transport options, including public transport, active modes and private vehicles.
Instead of a one-size-fits-all solution, we’ve invested in infrastructure that supports people making the choice that suits them.
Transparent and accountable government
I want to live in an Auckland where we have the infrastructure, environment and people to support our growing city.
Our councillors, mayor and local boards work collaboratively to achieve the best outcome for Auckland in an open and transparent manner.
Engaged Community
I want to live in an Auckland where localism is at the core of how council functions, empowering and listening to our communities.
Council works alongside our communities in true partnership to support and empower them, providing specialist resource and skills to help deliver what our people want.
Built environment and housing
I want to live in an Auckland where our built environment enhances our lifestyles, not hinders it.
Good quality housing is affordable, focused in areas with good infrastructure like transport, parks, and recreational facilities.
Protect and restore our environment
I want to live in an Auckland where kaitiakitanga (guardianship) is at the core of how we live.
We’ve achieved zero carbon emissions through practical and realistic actions at both a regional and local level. Our city is prepared for climate change with resilient infrastructure and robust plans to adapt to the rising sea levels and more extreme weather events.
Economic and cultural development
I want to live in an Auckland where we leverage our diverse and creative thinking to innovate and grow.
We’ve embraced our diverse populations and enabled them to succeed. Central government recognises the economic powerhouse that is our city.
