Making democratic accountability for transport work won’t be easy
To make transport reform work, we will probably need to delegate some decision-making to staff for the more operational matters. Getting this right is vital to delivering on the local democratic accountability balanced with the practicalities of the potential workload.

Local roads and footpaths must be fit for purpose
As footpaths transition from Auckland Transport to Auckland Council and Local Boards in October, I am very concerned that we will be burdened with more failing and missing assets without funding or a plan to address the issues.

Final stage of Eastern Busway finally underway
On Friday morning, we were invited to the sod turning for the final stage of the Eastern Busway project.
All Saints Howick Food Bank serving our community for 35years
On Sunday, some of the Howick Local Board attended a special service at All Saints Anglican Church, Howick to celebrate 35 years of their food bank providing for our community.

Celebrating Matariki at O Wairoa Marae
On Saturday we celebrated Matariki at O Wairoa Marae in Howick.
Great news for Burswood - new playground coming soon!
Recently the Howick Local Board granted approval for construction of a new playground for Burswood. This will be funded by the Eastern Busway project, as part of the compensation for the impacts of property acquisition and construction.

I’m really proud of the work we've done over the past few years, upgrading our public spaces to respond to the changing needs of the communities we serve.

Estuary Art and Ecology Awards marks 20 years of environmentally focused artworks
Saturday was a busy day, starting in the early hours with a dawn whakatuwhera / opening ceremony for the 20th Estuary Art and Ecology Awards at UXBRIDGE Arts & Culture.
